Report for Enhancement  activity.
Topic: Teaching reading using original sources.
Date:  February 27, 2013
Group: Pre-intermediate
Place of providing:  Secondary school # 31, Kurmanjan Datka.
Responsibilities: Tashieva Mukadas, Pazilova Samara, Razzakova Akmaral, Borubaeva Kyzburak.
Participants: 15 English teachers from 5 secondary schools (schools # 31: 34; 35:30:33)
Aim: to teach school teachers for the new methods of teaching reading  using original sources.
Materials: Board, 15- copy books, projector, lap-top and copies.

Warming-up: (group work) We explained about our course and introduced ourselves, than started warming up activity the introducing game “Shake hands” with participants.
Before the presentation the topic, we asked them to choose the cards:
I love reading
I like reading
I hate reading
2. The trainers asked question “Why?”
3. Power point presentation about the topic.

Learners chose one of the cards and find their group. 
2. Learners were able to answer to the question.
3. Learners put down all the given information to their copy books.(which were given by the trainers)

4. Practical part.
 We gave the text “Our family”, but before giving the text learners predicted about the text.
5.Checking gained knowledge with the game “True or False”
6. Feedback.

Learners worked with the text following all the rules during the reading process.
They played the game with great pleasure.
Learners gave their feedback about the training.
Suggestions from the participants.
They satisfied with the provided training and asked to held such kind of trainings more often, because they need new ways of teaching on their lessons.
All the students work in groups and do the tasks.

1.       We think that we will use our methods during our classes. We are sure that methods will be productive for students and for ourselves. Others wrote that if we have ability to use Internet during our lessons. We will accept other’s suggestions and use them during lessons.
2.      We think that we use and will use integrative skills at our classes, but others wrote us to be concrete about integrative skills. Skills like reading, writing, speaking and listening are integrative skills. We think that physical activities are very useful and important in learning English language. Others wrote that it confused them how can we use physical activities at our classes. Nonetheless, Physical activities we can use with numbers, fruits, parts of body, verbs, and some of new words. In conclusion, we want to add that it is very important to use songs, physical activities at our English classes.
3.      We think that we tried to write all our methods of teaching English language. The others asked to be more concrete. They didn’t understand well about clusters, proverbs, pictures and cross-dictations, missed letters. In any way, we tried to include all the methods. In conclusion, we should think that our ideas are the best.

Reflection
From Unit 2 I have learned interesting and useful information. I can say it’s very useful for me all or each lesson. During the lesson I heard many new ideas, and doing different grammar exercises, situations, activities. I have learned how to use Past Continuous Tense. Of course, before we taught prepositions and linking words, but during the lesson I have learned the differences between them and I learned it very well. I also learned from others when they share with their own ideas with examples.

Reflection. Unit 3
I have learned what is the difference between optimist and pessimist people. After discussion I thought I am the pessimist, but I have found out that it is very important to be optimist. I liked my colleagues' ideas, especially Kanykei's idea that she said both of them has good and bad sides. I also liked Kyzburak's letter. Myself, I have never written letter in the formal way. Khairullo and Almaz shared their ideas that formal letter has the structure. During the lesson We always listen to the dialogues and it is very useful for me.

Reflection 4
From Unit 4 I have learned degrees of comparisons, the differences between comparative and superlatives and between comparative adjectives from comparative adverbs. I liked all activities doing during the lesons. It was very difficult for me to write an essay  for given theme. I don't understand what to write in introduction, key words, and thesis. But I understood to write an essay with its own structure. The most interesting lesson was working with maps. Teacher gave us tasks, I have learned many interesting directions. After doing tasks I have learned and understood topics.


Reflection. Unit 5
From Unit 5, I have learned very interesting and useful information. Our teacher organized situations and we act it. There were wonderful ideas. My course mates could play role games very well. I liked the lesson to work with Internet. I have learned how to reply and send information.



Reflection. Unit 6
From Unit 6 I have learned how to use first, second, and third conditionals. During the lessons was very interesting for me that each of us made sentences and we did as a short story. Murphy’s Law is very interesting, because mostly we changed our plans  or ideas after Murphy’s Law . At the lessons we did interesting teaching activities, e.g. we were divided on 2 groups where we shared our ideas, asked questions. By the discussion Club I have learned about PNG’s life and their traditions.

Reflection
Fortunately, in this eight course seminar I could learn a lot of things. In second Unit I knew how to use linking words where and in what cases. Also, I have never listened any kind of listening. Here we can listen to a dialogue or a listening. In first listening I couldn’t understand what they said. Today I try to understand the listening. I also like to do the exercises. It is very interesting to do the matching the questions with paragraphs, to listen “the checking in” conversations. Also reading and speaking tasks and swap roles. I can use the reading in my classes. Your Experience is very interesting and useful. Natalya, You are so kind and I like your speaking in English language. And I don’t lie the rule that if we absent for 5 classes thanwe will not participate in the course any more. It is difficult for us (we have a family) always to be in time and in class. But I try to be in time.
Also, I am a visual learner….

Reflection Unit 3
The classes are very interesting and unusual for me. Also, we learn a lot of new activities and diferences of tenses. Listening is alo very interesting. In my classes I used the pessimist's phrase book. Pupils are very interested in it. They became more eager to learn English. I also use a role play in interpreting partner's dreams. They are not bored as before. Pupils are happy to know a lot of things.I also happy, because of my classes became interesting to pupils.
Please, teach us  a lot of activities and how to present grammar for pupils without giving the rules or shemes and tables.

Reflection. Unit 4
 In Unit 4 I have learned how to use present perfect with "never, ever, just, yet, already"activities were very interesting.It was explained how and when to use comparatives very clearly. You are patient for us. From you we can learn a lot of things, for example, your patience to students and checking our hometasks, class activities, how organise the classes. Thanks for American Councils that gives us such kind of chances. I can use in Practical English how to ask the directions in our classes. We can divide groups and give each group maps as you give. One group will give the directions, another one follow the directions and find where is the place, or we can use it vise or verse. This activity I liked more than  others. It will interesting to pupils, I think. In this activity they can improve their skills. First is their listening, because they must follow the directions, the secons is their reading and speaking.

Reflection. Unit 5
Thank you for your techniques. In Unit 5 I have learned a lot of things. The first, I was interested in the work at computer class. It was great and interesting for our students. During our classes I have more interested about “How to survive at the party”. We made dialogues and act them. It was wonderful.
In Unit 5D, I knew in what games we can say “Play, go, and do”. It was new information for me, I never heard about it anywhere. During our classes I want more activities with grammar exercises-to share the methods of teaching. We must more practice about Nicenet. Thank you!



Reflection. Unit 6
In sixth Unit Murphy’s Law was interesting for us. Teachers gave us an example and we have ended the sentences. I think that if we use it with our pupils, will be interesting. It will clear for them if they understood 1 and 2 conditionals. It can be game with questions.
